Add Sleep Timer in More → Customize Home Bottom Buttons if needed. The test below uses a one-minute timer and two looping local videos. Screenshots show the English interface on an iPhone 17 Pro simulator.

Open Sleep Timer, choose a preset or Custom duration, and start the videos. The toolbar counts down; when time is up, playback pauses and the app requests a lower screen brightness.

Open the timer choices

Tap Sleep Timer. Choose 10, 20, 30, or 60 minutes, or use Custom. Don't enable is available here when you want to cancel an active timer.

Set a custom duration

Choose Custom, set 0 h and 01 min with the hour and minute wheels, then tap Confirm. Check the selected row before confirming.

Start playback and check the countdown

Return to the workspace, play the videos, and check the timer’s remaining time on the toolbar. Setting a timer does not replace the normal Play control.

Confirm that playback stops

When the countdown ends, check that both videos are paused. In this test the upper clip stops at 00:01.975 and the lower at 00:08.980. The countdown disappears.

Cancel from the same menu

Open Sleep Timer again and select Don't enable if you no longer want it to stop playback. Do this before the deadline when continuing a viewing session.

The timer does not power off the phone

This is a playback timer, not a shutdown timer. It does not delete or export media.

Frequently asked questions

Does the timer start playback for me?

Use the ordinary Play controls to begin playback, then check both the video state and timer countdown.

Why is the screen darker afterward?

The timer also lowers screen brightness. Simulator screenshots show the paused video state; they do not prove a physical brightness change on an iPhone or iPad.

Split Screen Player

Try this with your own media
